Things I will miss {most|least} about Mill Valley
(start list: 12-8-04, 12-12)
+ being able to walk out my door to the top of a 2900 foot mountain with spectacular views of the whole San Francisco Bay (if I have six+ hours to spare)
+ Bolinas Ridge at sunset
+ 8-12 mile drive to the Pacific Ocean
+ Muir Beach and the sweet little creek that runs into it
+ Stinson Beach and its basketball court, hiking trails, and the Parkside Cafe.
+ Friday happy hour at Sweetwater.
+ Being wired in for free admission to Sweetwater - it's made a big difference in my life for the last 3-4 years.
+ That small set of really good friends I've made that actually give a shit about me, you know who you are. (most of you are transplants also, good friends that are actual townies are very few for me — because they already have enough good friends in their lives?? who knows...)
+ Being close to Martha and family.
+ Walking to everything so I don't have to start my truck for days at a time
+ Watching the rain from under the eaves at Bonavita
+ the Mill Valley Library
+ the City museums (SFMOMA, Asian, Palace...)

- Cost of rent
- Cost of food
- Cost of a frigging beer at happy hour!
- Stuck-uppedness of all too many people, and that thing the locals do where they say hi one day but are too cool to say hi the next day (I know, touchy, touchy...)
- Those 3-4 sucky people I see every day downtown that I wish would get kidnapped by Martians.
- The $5 cover charge on the City (aka the Golden Gate Bridge toll)

Bonus coverage! What I think I will [not] like about Reno:

+ the Truckee River
+ walking to coffee houses/clubs/restaurants
+ walking to the Art Musuem
+ the craaazy skyline — giant green and purple and red and yellow buildings — there's a casino that looks just like Minas Morgul in Lord of the Rings (that same corpse-gas green, but in a very cheerful way!)
+ new people
+ removing the first four hours of my drive to cool places 'cuz I'm already there!
+ the desert in winter, fall, spring
+ grass, shade trees, tennis courts, basketball court, across the street
+ a kayak park across the street for gosh sakes!
+ walking to the instant excitement of the casinos - cheep food and 100's of tvs for basketball season.
+ my very own place!

- driving to the grocery store
- new people
- (lack of) rain
- the desert in summer
- too red-state Republican
- too many cranked out gambling addict lunatics in the streets (we hope this won't be a problem)
- the depressing depravity of the casinos
